Welcome to the MISD Technology Department

 
 
Kitsy Pepper is the Technology Directory and Educational Grant Specialist for Memphis ISD. Kitsy has been in education and with the district for 27 years.  Kitsy is a high school graduate from Memphis High School.  Kitsy attended Abilene Christian University and Clarendon College and graduated from Clarendon College with an Associates in Science degree.  Kitsy continued her education at West Texas A&M University and received her Bachelor's degree in Science Interdisciplinary Studies.  Kitsy then worked to receive her Master's degree in Education in Curriculum and Instruction Technology from Grand Canyon University and advanced her education at Lamar University to complete their Principal Certification Program.
 
Jennifer Lindsey has retired from education and is working part time in the Technology Department.

Awarded Educational Grants

America's Farmers Grow Rural Education Monsanto Grant

2017-2018 

Memphis ISD received America's Farmers Grow Rural Education Monsanto Fund Grant for $10,000.  With this grant, Memphis ISD was able to purchase 40 Chromebooks to enhance Math at Memphis Middle School. This process began with area farmers who nominated our school district to compete for this grant. Memphis ISD had 25 local farmers nominations. An impressive application and farmer support made this possible. Decisions were based on a combination of financial need in the district, the merit of the proposed program, and community support. Grant applications were reviewed by a group of math and science teachers and then by America's Farmers Grow Rural Education Advisory Council, a group of 29 prominent farmers across the country.

Technology Lending Grant

2018-2019

Memphis ISD received the 2018-2019 Technology Lending Grant through TEA. The grant provided personal student learning devices and Internet access to digital instructional materials on and off-campus.  This is a $50,000 grant and was written by the technology department for Austin Elementary for Chromebooks and mobile Wi-fi hotspots.

Harbor Freight Tool Donation

2019

Memphis ISD received a tool donation from Harbor Freight in the amount of $250.00 to assist the Memphis Ag Department with needed tools for their 8th-grade carpentry class.

America's Farmers Grow Rural Education Bayer Fund

2019-2020

Memphis ISD received a $10,000 grant to enhance STEM with Virtual Reality for our students across the district in grades 5th-12th.  This can take our students to places they've only dreamed of with robust, immersive virtual reality experiences to astound, amaze, and educate in ways never before possible. These funds were used to purchase a virtual reality classroom kit to provide amazing learning opportunities to enhance instruction in the area of science using this revolutionary technology. 

School Safety and Security Grant

2019-2021

 

Memphis ISD received the 2019-2021 School Safety and Security grant through TEA.  This grant is for $50,000 to secure the exterior doors which push bars at Travis Elementary, increase camera coverage and angles on exterior doors, hallways and entrances at Memphis High School and to provide bullet-resistant glass or film for school entrances. 
Instructional Continuity Grant 2019-2021 Memphis ISD received a grant for $10,500 for the Memphis Middle School through TEA.  The Instructional Continuity Grant provides supplemental resources to districts to support improved student outcomes on targeted support and improvement campuses.  With this grant, Memphis Middle School will increase its capacity to facilitate instructional continuity and distance, remote, and/or virtual learning.

Technology Lending Grant 

2020-2021

Memphis ISD received the 2020-2021 Technology Lending Grant through TEA.  This is a $50,000 grant and was written by the technology department for Chromebooks and Mobile Wi-Fi hotspots for Dual Credit classes at Memphis High School and for continued mobile Wi-Fi hotshots at Austin Elementary. 

Harbor Freight Tool Donation

2020

Memphis ISD received a tool donation from Harbor Freight in the amount of $100 to assist the MISD Career and Training Center with needed tools for their welding program.

America's Farmers Grow Rural Education Bayer Fund

2020-2021

Memphis ISD received a $15,000 grant for Igniting A Spark and Passion: Enhancing STEM Watching the Sparks Fly with the Dynatorch Super B Plasma Table through America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education, sponsored by Bayer Fund. Welding is a demanding occupation in our region and graduating our high school students with industry-based certifications is essential.  With this grant, we are able to purchase a Dynatorch SuperB Plasma table for our new MISD Career and Training Center. With this grant, we hope to ignite a spark and passion in our students while enhancing STEM. We are ready to watch the sparks fly!

TEA Operation Connectivity Prior Purchase Reimbursement Program (PPRP)
2020-2021
The Operation Connectivity Prior Purchase Reimbursement Program (PPRP) provides reimbursement funding to eligible LEAs for technology-related purchases made to serve students and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Memphis ISD purchased iPads.  This grant totaled $22,190.
Remote Learning Operation Connectivity CV19
2020-2021
The Remote Learning Operation Connectivity CV-19 Grant is to support Texas LEA purchases of eLearning devices and home Internet solutions to enable the remote learning of students during the COVID-19 pandemic.  With this grant we purchased hotspots and Chromebooks.  The total state matching amount for this grant was $17,075.
FFA Grants For Growing
2020-2021

The Memphis FFA is engaging students across the district in a project-based learning project which will increase STEM education and teach youth about plants, food and agricultural career paths. The Memphis FFA will be maintaining an Educational Greenhouse to acquire knowledge and skills in greenhouse plant production and in the floriculture industry.  This was a grant for $5000.

ESSER

 Grant 2021-2022

 

The U.S. Congress has provided financial support for districts and schools through the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) Fund to address the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.  The ESSER III NOGA total is $1,739,421.00

Capital Farm Credit Community Outreach Grant 2022 The Capital Farm Credit Community Outreach Grant provides grant to Texas FFA chapters to assist them in bringing positive change by establishing projects that make local communities better places to live.  Memphis ISD, Memphis FFA received a $1000 grant to assist with the Educational Greenhouse.
Texas Agri-Women Grant 2022 The Texas Panhandle Agri-Women offers grants to FFA Chapters for an educational activity.  The Memphis ISD, Memphis FFA received a $3000 grant for the Educational Greenhouse and its project-based learning project.
TASB Cybersecurity Grant 2022 The TASB Risk Management Fund Cybersecurity Grant provides members with funding to improve cybersecurity.  MISD received $2000 to purchase Cybersecurity Awareness Training and Phishing Simulation.  
TEA Silent Panic Alert (SPAT) Grant 2022-2024 This grant provides funds to purchase silent panic alert technologies for school safety.  MISD received $7619.
TEA School Safety Standards Formula Grant 2022-2025 The TEA School Safety Standards Formula grant will assist schools in meeting the new school safety standards and other security related costs. This grant is to improve the safety and security of school facilities for staff, students, and visitors. MISD received funding for this grant in the amount of $200,000.
Ed Rachal Foundation Grant 2023 The Ed Rachal Foundation Grant provided up to $600 to teachers/nurse in Region 16 for their classroom.  MISD had six recipients who grant totaled $ 3215.

2023-2025 Safety and Facilities Enhancement Grant (SAFE) Cycle 1

This grant through TEA was designed to help schools to be in compliance with the adopted school safety standards.  MISD received $600,607 to assist in meeting theses safety standards.
2023-2025 Safety and Facilities Enhancement Grant (SAFE) Cycle 2 This grant through TEA was designed to help schools meet the required safety standards.  MISD received $150,000 to assist in meeting theses safety standards.
Learning Acceleration Support Opportunities (LASO) Cycle 3 2024-2025 This grant through TEA is a Strong Foundations Planning Grant that provides direct funds for technical assistance to develop a strong instructional framework in math or literacy based in the research-based instructional strategies (RBIS) to guide teaching and learning.  Memphis ISD received $120,000 to focus on literacy.
